In 2011 when I was no longer able to play in Abigail Williams, it was the first time I was not in a band since age 12. It was the first song I wrote for what I now call my solo project, Light Being. It was also the first song I wrote during recovery from a traumatic psychiatric hospitalization that I seldom speak of publicly. This track started with drums, acoustic guitar, and a turtle-shaped ocarina all tracked in Brookings, Oregon in 2013. Guitar and bass have been tracked over and over again through the years. in 2016 I dug it up the file and began to reconsider shelving it. The synth strings began to sound stale to me so I recruited Kakophonix to play cello. My brother's wife Alexia Wotawa lent a soothing operatic vocal contrast to my shrieks. The lyrics are borrowed from a poem written for my family 3 generations ago, titled "The Rim Dwellers" and is about their summer cabin in the mountains that sits at the rim of the world.

Light Being Moorpark, California

Music by Lucas Wotawa. Writing began in Brookings, OR during an exceptional rough life chapter that reached up to 2013. With much help and encouragement, these songs will see the light of day (or dark of night) in 2016.
